The Dress We Couldn't Find

It began with a search for authentic Karen wedding attire. It became a mission to preserve Karen weaving traditions. This is the story of Hsoe & Soul.

Hsoe & Soul was born from a deeply personal journey — one that began with love, identity, and a desire to honour our heritage.

As we prepared for our engagement, we dreamed of wearing authentic Karen traditional attire to celebrate one of the most meaningful moments of our lives. To our surprise, finding beautifully handcrafted Karen clothing that reflected both authenticity and quality wasn't easy. And as we searched, we discovered something even more valuable than the garments themselves — we discovered the remarkable stories behind them.

"We met weavers and artisans who dedicate countless hours to creating each piece by hand. We learned that every thread carries history, identity, and the wisdom of our ancestors."

These garments, we realised, are not simply clothing. They are expressions of who we are as Karen people. That experience changed our perspective entirely. We understood that many of these extraordinary traditions were becoming less visible in a rapidly changing world — and we wanted to do more than just wear Karen clothing. We wanted to help preserve it, celebrate it, and share its beauty with others.

From that vision, Hsoe & Soul was established. Today, we work alongside Karen artisans to create authentic handmade garments that honour traditional craftsmanship while embracing contemporary design. Every collection reflects our commitment to preserving Karen culture, supporting artisan communities, and inspiring future generations to take pride in their identity.

For us, every garment is more than a beautiful piece of clothing. It is a story woven by hand, carrying the heritage, resilience, and spirit of the Karen people. Wear your heritage. Share the story.
